Dubai Open: Djokovic, Federer through to semis

World number one Novak Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer are through to the semi-finals of Dubai Open, while Andy Murray suffered a shocking quarter-final exit after being ousted by Croatian teenager Borna Coric.

Top seed Djokovic easily overcame Turkey’s Marsel Illhan with a consecutive 6-1, 6-1 victory in just 49 minutes, to set up a semi-final clash with Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych who beat Ukraine’s Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3,4-6, 6-2.

Similarly, world number 2 Roger Federer, who is bidding to secure his seventh Dubai Open title, moved into the last four when Frenchman Richard Gasquet withdrew from the tournament due to a lower back injury after he lost the first set 1-6.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray suffered a shocking defeat against Croatian tyro Borna Coric. The 18-year-old managed to trash the world number three 6-1, 6-3, allowing him to move into the semi-finals and set-up a clash against Roger Federer.
