Namkung stars as Perak cruise past Shahzan Muda

South Korean attacker Namkung Woong netted two goals to inspire Perak to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Shahzan Muda in the FA Cup opener earlier today.

Datuk M. Karathu promised to shuffle his squad and he did so by starting the likes of Hamizul Izaidi, Haris Safwan as well as Hafiz Ramdan while Chad Souza, Hisyammudin Norhakim Isa were all given a breather.

However, with the impressive Namkung still spearheading them in midfield, Perak definitely got off to a solid start, and it just had to be the South Korean, who fired them ahead on the 5th minute mark.

While the Seladangs continued to dominate large sections of the game, Shahzan managed to level the scoreline though Perak ultimately made it 2-1 just before the break. Marco Tulio, who recently returned from injury, found the back of the net to restore their lead.

After the break, Perak continued being aggressive and showed no signs of slowing down and Namkung eventually netted his second goal of the evening just 3 minutes after the restart.

The home side certainly displayed plenty of courage, but Datuk M. Karathu’s men never looked like they were going to drop this one as they held on to ultimately complete the victory and book their spot in the next round.

They will next face ATM or T-Team, depending on the outcome of that match.
