Malaysia FA Cup: Selangor complete revenge mission over Felda United

Selangor FA avenged their 4-0 defeat against Felda United last year after effectively knocking the Settlers out of the FA Cup after a thrilling encounter earlier today.

Felda were in top form heading into this match, having collected 7 points from their first three Super League clash but Selangor were determined from the get go. That being said, the Settlers did break the deadlock through Bojan Miladinovic before Ahmad Syamim Yahya doubled it to give them a comfortable 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of the second half.

However, the Red Giants started firing on all cylinders after going 2-0 down. They consistently applied pressure, though Felda did carve out several opportunities to increase their lead, only to be stopped by Shahrom Kalam and Co at the back.

Ultimately, Selangor’s spirited comeback paid handsome dividends as Hazwan Bakri pulled one back on the 78th minute, before Guilherme restored parity two minutes before the end to drag the game into extra time.

Despite both sides pushing hard, lethargy was visibly getting the better of them as the match tempo slowed down during extra time. No goals were scored as penalties came into the picture.

Selangor converted four spots kicks, with Guilherme, Gurusamy, Robert Cornthwaite and Hadi Yahya all finding the back of the net, but the Settlers could only score two through Shahrulnizam and Miladinovic as Makeche and Edward Wilson both missed to effectively hand Selangor the victory.
