Five Perak players handed National U-23 call-up

National U23 head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has announced his preliminary training squad ahead of the South East Asian (SEA) Games that will take place in Singapore later this year.

While the core of the squad will be made up of existing players within the Harimau Muda set-up, Ong has also opted to call up 17 other names from various Super League and Premier League sides across the country.

Of all the teams, Perak appear to be the largest contributor with five players from their Super League squad being called up. Fikri Sudin, Norhakim Isa, Hamizul Izaidi, Raffi Nagoorgani and Hafiz Ramdan have all been relatively solid over the last 12 months and their good form has certainly not gone unnoticed.

Norhakim in particular, broke into the scene under Azraai Khor’s Perak side in 2013, impressing at the heart of their midfield despite being young. Raffi was equally impressive during that season though Fikri has also been largely influential this year.

Besides them, Johor DT II’s Shafiq Shaharuddin and Terengganu midfielder Shahrin Sapien have also been included in the squad.
