JDT complete signing of five mixed-heritage Malaysian players

Johor DT have announced the capture of five mixed-heritage Malaysian players to boost both the main squad as well as the JDT II team.

The five players are none other than Samuel Somerville (Malaysian-English), Curran Ferns (Malaysian-Australian), Nick Swirad (Malaysian-English), Stuart Wark (Malaysian-Scotland), Shaz Ramlee (Malaysian, Australian).

Samuel will be part of the main JDT squad, and he’ll be vying for the solitary goalkeper spot with Farizal Marlias as well as Izham Tarmizi.

The other four players on the other hand, will be integrated into the JDT II set-up, and they will be part of the squad that will be competing in this year’s Malaysian Premier League.

Samuel will be the second mixed-heritage player to don the JDT jersey, following in the footsteps of Malaysian-Swedish defender, Junior Eldstal.

There are several other mixed-heritage players around the country – Matthew Davies (Malaysian-Australian) features for Pahang FA while Brendan Gan (Malaysian-Australian) is currently part of the Kelantan FA squad.

Negeri Sembilan have also announced two new mixed-heritage signings in the form of Kevin Gunter (Malaysian-Swiss) as well as Dan Ting (Malaysian-English).
