NSC to acquire services of Kenyan coach Samuel Kipsang

The National Sports Council (NSC) will be working on the acquisition of Kenyan coach Samuel Kipsang Rono under the request of the Malaysian Atheltics Federation (MAF) in order to strengthen the dynamics of the current squad to ensure a triumph at the 2017 SEA Games.

Chief Director of NSC, Datuk Ahmad Shapawi claimed that the proposal achieved mutual agreement during a meeting with MAF two days ago.

According the Ahmad Shapawi, NSC will be meeting up with Kipsang Rono in the nearest period possible to negotiate on the payment, accommodation and other factors.

“The agreement with MAF was made with hopes that the coach will be able to share his knowledge with the local coaches and at the same time help improve the performance of the athletes in the long distance events especially for the ‘Kita Juara Program’,” said Ahmad Shapawi as quoted from Utusan.

“For now I cannot be sure of when Kipsang Rono will be here but we will try our best to make it as soon as possible.”

Kipsang Rono is said to be one of Kenya’s most professional athletics coach and has trained athletes for the Olympics, including 2009 world champion, Linet Masai and Olymics bronze medalist Micah Kogo.
