Fatehah prepared to dig deep for Rio slot

National track cyclist Fatehah Mustapa has set an aim to advance to the finals of the keirin event in the Cycling World Cup in Hong Kong next week, alongside accumulating more points to qualify for the Rio Olympics in August.

“I cannot comment anymore about the points. I will only know where I stand after the World Track Championship in London next March,” said Fatehah as quoted from Utusan.

“However, the main focus right now is the race in Hong Kong, I will be taking part in the individual keirin and sprint event. My target in the keirin event will be to cycle in the finals.”

Besides Fatehah, compatriots Azizulhasni Awang, Shah Firdaus Shahrom and Jupha Somnet will also be gunning for the finals in the championship and hope to climb up from their current standings.

“I need to be careful and not to be overconfident because there will be many skillful contestants from other countries in the World Track Championship.”
