2016 LTdL: Andrea Palini claims narrow Stage Two triumph

Skydive Dubai’s (SKD) Andrea Palini completed his second straight podium finish at Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) after winning the second stage today, edging Astana Pro Team’s (AST) Andrea Guardini and Reinardt Janse van Rensburg of Dimension Data (DDD).

Andrea Palini became the second Italian to win a stage at the 2016 LTdL, after Andrea Guardini won a stage yesterday. The SDC rider won the 158.1km challenge which started in Sungai Petani, Kedah and ended in Georgetown, Penang in 3 hours and 56 minutes.

Despite finishing behind his Italian compatriot, Andrea Guardini retained the Yellow jersey as he is currently first in the overall standings, ahead of Andrea Palini and Wang Meiyin.

Hengxiang Cycling Team (HEN) rider Wang Meiyin is constantly proving to be a threat after winning both the Sprints Competition and Mountains Competition. He retained his Red jersey (King of the Mountain) and dethroned Andrea Guardini as the holder of the Teal jersey.

The best Malaysian rider of the day was national team rider Muhammad Fauzan Ahmad Lufti.

The third stage begins tomorrow at Kulim, Kedah and ends in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
