LCW handed minor setback ahead of All England?

National badminton ace Lee Chong Wei is is on a run to seek for his fourth All England title next week but his preparations are slightly disrupted due to a fever sustained yesterday.

The top seed was no where to be seen on court grounds during the national squad training session and coach Hendrawan has clarified that Chong Wei is indeed unwell.

“Yes. Chong Wei is not well, he informed me this morning that he is down with a fever. He asked for a break,” he told Berita Harian.

“I think it’s the best that takes as much rest as he can before continuing the training sessions. The championship is near and we will be taking off to Birmingham this Friday. So, there’s not much training left for him this week. Let him rest.”

When asked whether Chong Wei’s age would affect his time needed to recuperate, Hendrawan stated that in terms of preparations, he has done well and regarding his fever, it could be because of lethargy.

“Chong Wei is a player who is at a different level, so is not a big issue. So I hope he can recover within a day or two.”

Chong Wei is scheduled to play against India’s P. Kashyap in his opening match, which commences on March 9.
