Lee Chong Wei officially agrees to join Podium Program

Badminton World Federation (BWF) World. No 2 Lee Chong Wei has agreed to sign a contract to participate in the Podium Program, officiated by the National Sports Institute (ISN).

The 34 year-old held talks with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and ISN concerning a few issues regarding sponsorship in the contract that was successfully offered to him. He will officially sign it once he returns from the All Open Championships.

“I have discussed matters with the minister and he understands where I am coming from. Mr. Khairy and ISN have agreed to change the contents of the contract in order to avoid any sort of conflict with my personal sponsors.

“As a national athlete, I have to support this program and I will sign it once I return from England,” Lee Chong Wei said after his training in Bukit Kiara, as quoted by Berita Harian.

Apart from the two-time Olympic silver medallist, Goh V. Shem, Tan Wee Kiong, Chan Peng Soon, Goh Liu Ying, Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei have signed up for the Podium Program.
