“Pressure? What pressure?” – Peng Soon buoyant about Rio chances

National mixed doubles shuttler, Chan Peng Soon claims that he does not feel pressured by the expectations that are placed on him, ahead of the Rio Olympics this year.

In fact, he is feeling confident about his partnership with Liu Ying and their overall recent performances, especially after their triumph at the New Zealand Open last week.

“I am happy and I hope to achieve the expectations that are placed on us. I do not feel any pressure because we always put in our maximum effort every time we play,” he told Harian Metro.

“I’ve not thought about retiring after the Olympics because I believe I can still contribute to the country,” he proclaimed.

Peng Soon and Liu Ying are being tipped to do well in Rio, considering they’ve put in a string of impressive performances, which culminated in them winning the New Zealand Open last week.

The pair will be competing in the Malaysia Open next week, where they are expected to go up against their arch rivals – China’s Xu Chen-Ma Jin.
