KAFA to decide K. Devan’s fate today

K. Devan’s position as head coach will be decided today when the management committee of the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) convene to discuss his future at the club.

“The committee will assess the club’s position based on K. Devan’s performance report from all angles, beginning with the performances of K. Devan, the local players and the foreign players,” KAFA secretary general Datuk Ismail Md Noor said as quoted by Harian Metro.

“This report is important because it will help the committee to decide K. Devan’s future. However, KAFA will allow him to prove himself during the Malaysia Super League (MSL) match against Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium today.

KAFA President Tan Sri Annuar Musa will announce K. Devan’s position after the meeting.

The former Red Giants boss was the centre of attention during his side’s loss to T-Team during the MSL match at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium on Tuesday.

The Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors (PQPTRW) fans were furious after the referee blew the full time whistle to indicate a 4-2 defeat to the newly-promoted team from Terengganu. They racially abused K. Devan from the stands and told him to start packing his bags.

“The team made a number of errors, especially in defence and it allowed the opponents to score four goals,” PQPTRW head coach K. Devan said as quoted by Berita Harian.

“All in all, the players had a terrible game.”

WHAT DO WE THINK?

We all know that Kelantan made the biggest amount of noise prior to the season when Datuk Seri Vida (DSV) stepped in and invested a large chunk of money into the East-side squad. She brought in K. Devan because of his ‘vast experience’ throughout his managerial career and signed the likes of Baze Ilijoski, Jonatan Lucca, Dramane Traore and Daudsu Jamaluddin. In reality, they have struggled to cope with the dominance of JDT, the resilience of Selangor and FELDA United and the sudden emergence of Premier League champions Kedah. The PQPTRW fans are playing the blame game and K. Devan have been caught in the crossfire. He has guided his team to sixth in the league (two wins, two draws, two losses) and was eliminated from the FA Cup after losing to Kedah, only after scraping a 1-0 win over UKM. Baze Ilijoski and Jonathan McKain have been impressive for DSV’s team this season, but Dramane Traore and Muslim Ahmad have been surprisingly poor for them. There is no balance in the team and that is why they have been struggling so far.

Give K. Devan the chance to test his team for one last time against the Southern Tigers, but unfortunately for him, his fate will be decided on the same day he faces the AFC Cup winners.
