Zaquan Adha edging closer to Harimau Malaysia return?

JDT II forward Zaquan Adha could be looking at a return to the Malaysian national team set-up as Ong Kim Swee looks for ways to deal with their lack of attacking prowess.

Harimau Malaysia have been offensively over the past few years, with the likes of Safee Sali and Norshahrul Idlan struggling for form. In fact, Norshahrul was the only recognized striker in OKS’ last Malaysian squad, for the games against Saudi Arabia and Macau.

But the ex-Harimau Muda boss is now evaluating several options within the M-League and the list includes Zaquan Adha, who was once a regular fixture in the squad.

Zaquan Adha Abd Razak, who is now in Johor Darul Ta’zim II, last played with Harimau Malaysia 4 years ago, on the 20th of November, Malaysia went on to draw 1-1 against Bangladesh.

“A few players are within my observation, Zaquan being one of them. He has showed improvements after a long battle with injuries,” he told Harian Metro.

“I’m not worried about calling-up Zaquan to the national team because he has experience in the international arena and most importantly, he knows the commitment that will be demanded from him.

“I am definitely focusing on the attacking areas of the squad not only for the fixture against Timor Leste but also for the 2019 Asia Cup play-offs,” he added.

OKS also hinted that the new attacking force of the squad will be a part of his long-term plan. The list of strikers that he’s closely monitoring includes Hazwan Bakri, Shafiq Shaharuddin and even Amirul Syahmi.
