“Do or die” – Zainal Abidin to Selangor players ahead of Ceres clash

Today’s AFC Cup fixture against Ceres La Salle FC will be a “do or die” match for Selangor as it could determine their future in the competition, according to head coach Zainal Abidin.

He explained that if they were to claim three points at home against Ceres tonight, they might not need to win their last group stage match against Singaporean giants, Tampines Rovers.

“The match tomorrow (tonight) is extremely important and we definitely do not want to lose three points. If we do, it’s going to be tough for us when we face Tampines Rovers,” the Selangor boss told Sinar Harian.

Zainal insists that his team will not face any pressure and he wants his squad, especially the midfield and forward department, to create and bag in more goals.

“I also want my attacking players to double our chances and try to score more goals in this match,” he added.

Indubitably, it will be a tough clash for The Red Giants tonight as they will be forced to exclude two key players – R. Gopinathan and Razman Roslan due to injuries.

Selangor currently sits at the 3rd place in Group E, sharing 7 points with Tampines Rovers while their opposition tonight, Ceres La Salle FC, are on top of the table with 8 points.
