“We want to beat Ayeyawady” – Mario Gomez sees no reason to drop the ball

With Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) confirming their knockout stage slot, Mario Gomez will be looking to rest key players when they face Ayeyawady United in their final AFC Cup group stage game, later today.

In fact, most of their key players have not travelled with th squad to Myanmar, with the FA Cup tie against Kedah coming up this weekend. But regardless, the Argentinean sees no reason for his shuffled squad to still pursue three points on the day.

“We have a line-up of quality players and this is precisely why we always aim to win, regardless of the opponent we face,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
