Kunanlan becomes third JDT player to retire from international football

S. Kunanlan has publicly announced his decision to retire from international football, becoming the third JDT player to do so, over the past one week.

The Southern Tigers’ right back released a statement on JDT’s official Facebook page, claiming that Malaysia’s friendly tie against Papua New Guinea in June, was his last appearance for the national team.

“I have decided to retire from representing the national team and my most recent appearance with the national team in the friendly match against Papua New Guinea would be my final appearance for the country,” the former Negeri Sembilan man said.

“I am very proud to be able to wear the national jersey from my time representing the Under-23 team until recently. Thank you for all the support and guidance given to me all these years. I truly appreciate it,” he added.

This comes after Safiq Rahim and Aidil Zafuan’s retirement from international duty, based on the announcement that was made on Tuesday. Yesterday, OKS expressed his shock at hearing Safiq and Aidil’s decision, though it now appears that he has another retirement to deal with.
