“What’s going on?” – Fourth JDT player announces decision to quit national team

It’s a nightmare, isn’t it?

This morning, S. Kunanlan became the third JDT player to announce his decision to retire from international football. If that wasn’t enough to send shockwaves across the country, a fourth JDT player has officially jumped on the bandwagon.

Amirulhadi Zainal released a statement on his private Facebook page earlier today, announcing his decision to quit the national team. The statement was then reiterated by Johor Southern Tigers’ official Facebook page – continuing what seems to be a mechanism of protest from JDT.

“Thank you to the supporters and everyone involved in giving me the support and opportunites throughout my involvement with the national team, especially coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee,” Amirulhadi said.

“This is where my contribution to the national team ends. This decision will allow younger players to continue the national team’s mission,” he added.

While all four players have issued polite statements in confirming their retirement, it evidently comes in the aftermath of Tunku Ismail’s criticism of the national team’s training methods, last weekend.

One can only wonder if more JDT players will follow suit over the next few days. Perhaps, even today?
