Lewis Hamilton wins fourth straight Grand Prix in Germany

Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton extended his lead to 19 points in the championship with a dominant victory at the German Grand Prix late last night.

The British may have lost out on pole position to teammate and closest rival Nico Rosberg, but he kicked off the race in total control and looked the obvious winner from the get go.

Nico Rosberg earned the pole position on Saturday and seemed confident going into the 75th edition of the Grand Prix, but started the race in a poor condition and dropped three places below Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull Racing duo Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen.

The weather went from bad to worse towards the end of the race, which might have troubled a number of racers, however, Lewis Hamilton stayed strong and maintained a 6.9 second gap ahead of the Australian racer and won his 49th Grand Prix victory (third highest ever).

Lewis Hamilton now has 217 points, whereas teammate Nico Rosberg is sitting in second position with 198 points. Daniel Ricciardo completes the top three with a total of 133 points.
