Natasha Roslan wins gold at World Junior Bowling Championships

National bowler Natasha Roslan has claimed the gold medal in the girls’ masters category after defeating Amabel Chua in the World Bowling Junior Championships earlier yesterday.

The 20 year-old ended Malaysia’s eight-year title drought at the tournament with a thrilling 190-158, 236-245, 227-187 win over the Singaporean at the Sun Valley Lanes in Nebraska.

This was Malaysia’s first gold medal since a double in 2008 in Orlando, Florida.

Aaron Kong won the boys’ masters event then before joining teammates Adrian Ang, Muhd Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek and Muhd Nur Aiman Khairuddin to win gold in the team event.

Tun Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam could have added another gold medal to the tally but he was easily defeated 161-233, 205-221 by Pontus Andersson of Sweden in the semi-final match.

However, he managed to get his hands on a bronze medal in the third/fourth play-off match.

The Malaysian national team returned home with a gold, two silvers and three bronzes.
