JDT fans have officially adopted ‘winning mentality’, says TMJ

Johor Darul Ta’azim owner Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim has heaped praises on the club’s fanbase for officially adopting the ‘winning mentality’.

Speaking through a statement that was released on Johor Southern Tigers’ Facebook page, TMJ said: “I have managed to turn the mentality of the club and its fans to a winning mentality, where even when we draw a game, the fans get disappointed as if we lost a match.”

This statement comes on the back of their frustrating 1-1 draw against South China, in the first leg of their AFC Cup Quarter-Final clash last night. JDT were moments away from sealing an important away win, only for South China’s Nikola Komazec to score a stoppage time equaliser.

The result, despite looking like a positive one, did not bode well with JDT fans. And while TMJ was happy to see a large portion of them express their frustration on social media, he reminded them to always back the team and club, even if they drop the ball, at some point.

“We must not forget where we came from. Let’s face it, there will be a time when JDT won’t win trophies. But even then, we need to stand behind the club and give it the support it needs and deserves.

“JDT does not only symbolise the JDT family but it also symbolises the state of Johor Darul Ta’zim which has always been a pioneer. Fans must continue to be behind the team because this is football. There are ups and downs. Its normal and life goes on,” he added.
