Van Persie’s volley against Aston Villa voted best Premier League goal ever

Fenerbahçe’s forward Robin van Persie picked up the award for best Premier League goal at the Legend of Football event. The event, held in London, celebrated 25 seasons of Premier League football and also raised money for charity.

The former Manchester United striker won the award for his volley against Aston Villa in April 2013, as voted by other players who had scored more than 100 goals in the division.

Watch it here:

Let’s have a look at 6 other stunning goals from our favourite Dutchman.

Arsenal v Charlton (2006)

Another stunning volley from the Dutchman, it is also the fans favourite. The commentator said it best, “It’s a wonder strike from Van Persie!”

Arsenal vs Everton (2011)

This powerful volley fed to him by Alex Song also won goal of the year in 2011.

Manchester United vs Swansea (2013)

RvP scores two goals here, and both equally brilliant. The first one is a perfectly improvised bicycle kick, and the second goal required him to battle his way through a bunch defenders. Pure class and technique.

Manchester United vs Arsenal (2013)

#Throwback to the time he curled in a powerful header from a corner by Wayne Rooney. And against his former club.

Manchester United vs Olympiakos (UCL 2014)

He scored all three goals in this match against Olympiakos at the Champions League. The free kick at the end is our favourite, it captures the precision of his technique and how he shot the ball right past 9 Olympiakos players.

Netherlands vs Spain (World Cup 2014)

It’s almost blasphemous if we talk about his memorable goals and don’t include this one. An impressive goal that earned him the “Flying Dutchman” nickname, with an assist by Daley Blind that was just as brilliant.

His goal-scoring prowess is irrefutably out of this world. What are some of your favourite Robin Van Persie goals that we missed?
