#Budget2017: What’s in it for sports?

The much anticipated #Budget2017 announcement happened earlier today, and we were hankering to know what was in store for the sports industry in Malaysia.

So in case you missed, or you were too busy to watch, here’s the summary for the sports side of the #Budget2017:

After the congratulating our fellow athletes for their outstanding performances at the recent Rio Olympics, the PM announce that he will be allot a total of RM 1.2 billion for the development of sports.

Out of that sum, RM 50 million is apportioned for the building the second phase of the Football Academy in Gambang, Pahang.

Another RM 122 million will be set aside for build and renovate the Youth & Sports Complex, the 1Malaysia Futsal Complex, and the Sports Community Complex.

RM 70 million will be bestowed to the Elite Sports Podium Development Program to churn quality athletes for international sporting events.

Finally, RM 54million will go to the Athlete Development Program, including the preparation for both national athletes and paralympic athletes.
