Football Association of Malaysia receives nomination for prestigious AFC award

Football Association of Malaysia has been nominated for the ‘Developing’ category of the AFC Member Association of the Year award for 2016.

The nomination was confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation earlier today, as they released the complete list of award nominees, ahead of the AFC Annual Awards that’s set to take place in December.

FAM has been nominated for the prestigious award alongside All India Football Federation, as well as the Vietnam Football Federation.

According to AFC, the award is usually granted to “a Member Association in recognition of its professional administration and governance as well as its exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of the game at all levels within the country. This includes grassroots and youth development work, women’s football development and social responsibility.”

Under the ‘Inspiring’ category, the three nominees are Japan Football Association, Korea Football Association as well as United Arab Emirates Football Association. Meanwhile, the ‘Aspiring’ category features Bhutan Football Federation, Football Federation of Cambodia as well as Football Federation of Sri Lanka.

The AFC Annual Awards ceremony will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 1, 2016.
