Selangor confirm appointment of P. Maniam as new head coach

Former AirAsia Allstars FC coach P. Maniam has been appointed as Selangor’s new head coach. This was confirmed by the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) on its official website.

The site also clarified that K.Gunalan, who stepped up as interim coach after former head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan was sacked, will now be assisting coach Maniam, alongside Noor Zaidi Rohmat.

This appointment also assures us that Selangor will not be withdrawing from the Malaysia League this upcoming season.

P. Maniam is a former Selangor player himself, is a certified coach with the highest level of coaching license in Asia, the Pro Diploma License from the Asian Football Confederation. This is also not his first time coaching the Red Giants, he was assistant coach for seven years between 2009 and 2015, and stepped up as acting coach in 2011 and 2013.

Azlisham Ib Berahim remains as Selangor’s head golakeeper’s coach, while Abdul Rauf Ahmad has been appointed as new squad manager for the 2017 Super League.
