Former Perlis keeper Saiful Amar vying for a place in Negeri’s starting XI

Former Perlis goalkeeper Saiful Amar Sudar is serious about securing a spot in Negeri Sembilan’s starting XI.

The 35-year old goalkeeper is doing everything in his power to gain the confidence of head coach Mohd Asri Ninggal since goalkeeper Syed Adney did not extend his contract with the club.

Although the veteran goalkeeper will have to put up a fight against 25 year-old Mohd Kaharuddin And Rahman–who seem to be in favour of the coach–Saiful is positive that he stands a chance. After all, he was the first-choice keeper in Perlis FA all along.

“I will work hard to improve my performance and to make sure I get into the starting XI, and to make sure I get in on all the games, whether it is the Premier League, FA Cup, or the Malaysian Cup.”

“But then again, I completely understand if the coach does not pick me, the decision is his and I respect it.”

Saiful, who just inked a one-year deal with Negeri Sembilan, is aware that he is new to the squad and it will probably take some time for him to prove himself worthy of the starting XI.

“I know I have to contend against Khairuddin, but it’s okay, it’s a healthy competition and he’s also experienced and well-fitted with the squad for over six years.”
