Tan Cheng Hoe seals one-year contract extension with Kedah

Kedah’s head coach Tan Cheng Hoe will not be leaving the Red Eagles any time soon; he just extended his contract with Kedah FA for another year.

This contract also marks Tan Cheng Hoe’s fourth successive season with the club. Under his supervision, the Red Eagles finished third in the Super League and emerged champions of the 2016 Malaysia Cup (Piala Malaysia).

This comes as little surprise, given that the 48-year old just picked up the award for Best Coach at the recent Anugerah Bolasepak Kebangsaan 2016.

However, coach Tan is aware that he needs to keep working hard to meliorate the team’s form and performance for the upcoming season.

“It is challenge, especially since we are going up against bigger teams with bigger budgets to rake in the best players.” the coach said.

“We have to be realistic if we want to win trophies, and I’m sure we will put up a good fight in the 2017 season. We will also be targeting to win the FA Cup championship in order to qualify for the AFC Cup.”

“I hope the players won’t adopt a complacent attitude and keep striving for success.”

Back in November, coach Tan attended a 10-day coaching program in Belgium to enhance his skills in football management. He also spent two-and-a-half months in China to complete his Pro Licence coaching course.
