Goh Liu Ying pulls out of Malaysian Masters

Mixed doubles player, Goh Liu Ying, is unable to compete in the Malaysia Masters due to a knee injury.

As a result of Liu Ying’s injury, she and her partner Chan Peng Soon will pull out of the competition altogether.

“Liu Ying needed to take stem cell injection three times and the recovery process will take around a month,” the Deputy President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria told Berita Harian.

“She is expected to be back in action in time for the German Open (28 February – 5 March)” said Norza.

Liu Ying and Peng Soon were tipped to be the favorites for the tournament in the mixed doubles.

Because of their withdrawal from the tournament, all eyes are now on Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing to lead Malaysia’s charge for the mixed doubles titles.

The Malaysia Masters will begin next Tuesday in Sibu, Sarawak.
