Azizulhasni: I’m hunting for gold medal at ACC 2017

Malaysia’s prominent track cyclist Azizulhasni Awang will not rest until he gets his hands on a gold medal in the Asian Cycling Championship.

The 29-year lad from Terengganu expressed his frustration at only managing a bronze medal during the last Asian Cycling Championship (ACC) 2016 that was held in Japan. Azizul bagged bronze for both the keirin and sprint categories.

He is adamant about making amends in the upcoming ACC 2017 that will happen in New Delhi from the 6th until 7th of February. Azizul is positive that he can bag gold in the men’s individual category.

His ambitions are not ludicrous, after all, he was the man who made history when he won Malaysia’s first ever Olympics medal in cycling after finishing third in the men’s Keirin final. Apart from that, he has at least seven medals under his belt from various other world championships.

“I want to make amends for the disappointment that happened last year at the ACC in Japan, and I’m going to do it this year.” Azizulhasni told Kosmo.

“After getting back from the Olympics, I rested, then went to Melbourne to start training for the next ACC. The training was good, and I’m excited to see a lot of progress.”

“I’m on a hunt for the gold medal, and I think I can do it.” he added.

Apart from that, the two-time world No. 1 in men’s keirin cycling also announced he and the team are in talks for a new contact and sponsor. The official announcement will be made no later that February 16th.
