#FAMPresidency: Here’s a breakdown of Annuar Musa’s manifesto

Tan Sri Annuar Musa has taken to Facebook to address those who accused him of not having a solid plan for Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), where is one of the top two contenders the post of president.

This Facebook post is probably a reaction to Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ)’s meeting with local football supporters at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, where he explained his vision for FAM, including his promises and pledges if he wins the post of FAM president.

“Of course I have a plan. Just be patient.” Tan Sri Annuar’s Facebook post read. “I’m giving the rough outline, the rest of the details, next month okay?”

Tan Sri Annnuar Musa then proceeds to outline the seven fundamental ground rules that will steer FAM towards the direction he has in mind.

Basically, his idea is to raise excellence through planning, participation, and transparency, and making football people-oriented.

His seven fundamentals are:

1)Making football the number 1 national agenda, in line with the government’s T50 (national transformation plan)

Under this, Tan Sri Annuar Musa noted points like football, school, GLC and twinning, PIBN, centre of excellence, grassroot, FB community and making football people-centric

2)Design a 30-year blueprint for 2050 Malaysia Dare to Dream

The vision for this blueprint will revolve around DNA change, learning it right (coach), national registration and licensing, kid’s league and youth leagues, sports science, national team development plan, global collaboration, refereeing and coaching development

3)Empower FAM affiliates

This point stresses on the sharing of wealth, a president consulting initiative, a maximum 3-term policy

4)Reinventing the M-League

This idea includes the separation of FAM and M-League, M-League to be 70% owned by teams, financial fair play, grooming local talents (presumably from the fourth tie to second tier leagues), a sustainable M-League model, creative branding, marketing, and making it a “soccertainment”

5)The Harimau Malaysia roadmap

This is to increase Malaysia’s FIFA ranking to top 100, making the national team an AFF powerhouse, grooming local players to play at a global stage

6)Zero corruption

Tan Sri Annuar Musa envisions a team with integrity, and this includes the management, officials and players

7)FAM Inc

This point is unclear, but it revolves around the FAM Foundation, endowment for excellence, unlocking values, and what is possibly an investment initiative Tan Sri terms as “FAMVEST”

The FAM elections will be held on the 25 March 2017, where the members of the governing body will vote for a new president and other committee members.
