VIDEO: #Throwback to Lukas Podolski’s stunning goals

The time has come to bid farewell to another German player; this time it’s 31-year-old forward, Lukas Podolski.

The German has capped for the national team a total of 130 times in 13 years, and has amassed 48 goals during his run with the national squad.

His record of 48 goals also qualifies him for a spot on Germany’s all time goal-scoring chart, where his name is inked on third place.

In Podolski’s farewell game with Germany yesterday, he helped his country beat England 1-0 with a sensational strike from a distance. The match was an international friendly that took place in Dortmund.

After his stellar last game, the former Koln player was honoured by DFB (German Football Association) and was given a top-notch farewell party.

The Galatasaray player started way back in 1995 on Koln, where he made 81 appearances and scored 46 goals for the club before moving to Bayern Munich. He quickly rose to prominence for his strong technique and attacks from the flanks.

With Bayern, Podolski scored 15 goals in 71 appearances. He also went on to win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal in 2008.

In 2012, he signed for Premier League club Arsenal, and subsequently won the FA Cup with the Gunners in 2014.

After a brief stint in Inter Milan, Podolski inked a deal with Turkish club Galatasaray in 2015. He has scored 18 goals in 47 appearances for his club to date.
