Ong Kim Swee to call up Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal for U-23 national team?

Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal shot to fame after making his professional football debut in the United Soccer League (USL) in the United States earlier this week.

The 18-year-old midfielder made the starting XI for his club, Swope Park Rangers, to play against OKC Energy FC at the Children’s Mercy Victory Field in Kansas City, Missouri.

Swope Park Rangers are a Division 2 team in the United Soccer League. The debut also made Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal the first Malay boy ever to play in the USL.

Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal stunned football fans with his impeccable performance in midfield, as he also contributed to his team’s 3 -1 victory in Kansas, before being substituted.

His name made waves in the Malaysian media as praises poured in for the young Malay lad who was born to Malaysian parents in Carbondale, Illinois.

Inevitably, the news reached Malaysia’s U-22 head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee, who is now thinking of calling the boy up for Malaysia’s national squad.

Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal will be a valuable addition to our squad, considering that he has trained with Feyenoord’s Academy, and also made appearance for the US Under-17 National team in 2015.

We haven’t received any confirmation on this news, but it would be great to have the wonderkid on board!
