Kedah supporters demand Azraai Khor be appointed as head coach

Kedah fans have demanded Football Association of Kedah (KFA) to snap up the services of Azraai Khor to replace Tan Cheng Hoe as head coach of the reigning Malaysia Cup winners.

Jaguh Utara Fan’s Club (JUFC) president Mohd Safarizal Mohd Sobri was speaking on behalf of his supporters club when he stated that they will be behind KFA if they choose to support the appointment of Azraai Khor as head coach of The Red Hawks, only if the negotiations between fitness coach Ramon Marcote and the club come to a dead end.

Until now, there have been a few rumours suggesting the possible replacements for Tan Cheng Hoe’s position, such as ex-national gaffer Datuk K. Rajagopal and M. Karathu, however, fans have been impatient with the lack of progress made so far.

“We believe that Azraai Khor is the best candidate to replace Tan Cheng Hoe for the position of head coach, and all of Kedah has witnessed what he achieved with the team in his previous stint with the club,” Safarizal Sobri said as quoted by Berita Harian.

“He (Azraai) has already stated his interest in returning to the club if needed.

Azraai Khor won seven trophies in his five years with the northwestern state, and was recorded in the history books after being the first coach to win the “double treble”, which included the league, Malaysia Cup and FA Cup in successive 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons.

“We do not want the players to be distracted, because without a head coach it would be hard to continue and finish the season, especially with the FA Cup trophy still up for grabs.

“Look at the 5-0 defeat we suffered at the hands of T-Team. Who in their right mind would have expected us to reach an all-time low? The players are going through a tough time.

“We should hire Azraai Khor as head coach and we should do it soon,” Safarizal concluded.
