Malaysia to face Japan, Singapore & Guam in AFC U-16 2018 qualifiers

This year’s AFC U-16 Championship 2018 qualifiers marks the 18th edition of the tournament, which also acts as the AFC qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The four teams that emerge on top will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup as AFC representatives.

For the AFC U-16 Championship 2018 qualifiers, the official draw took place at the AFC house, where 45 member countries were classified into 10 different groups.

The draw placed Malaysia in Group J where they will face opponents like Singapore, Guam, and, probably the toughest in group, Japan.

Member countries like India, Palestine, and Nepal are placed in the same group as defending champions Iraq in Group D.

Group C will see likes Kyrgyztan Republic, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Bhutan, in the group as runners-up, Iran.

In group F, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and Brunei, will be facing 2016 semi-finalists DPR Korea.

The winner from each group, along with five best second-placed teams will advance to the next stage of the tournament.

The AFC U-16 Championship 2018 qualifiers will be happening between September 16 and September 24 2017.
