Harimau Malaya assistant coach Tan Cheng Hoe hopes that he will be able to regain the confidence of the local fans by establishing a good relationship with head coach Nelo Vingada.
The ex-Kedah boss said that he was truly honoured to be given the responsibility of assisting the national team by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail.
He will be working alongside Nelo Vingada and Joao Arnaldo Correia in the national team.
“I am delighted to be working with the new head coach (Nelo Vingada) and is truly blessed to be working with the national set-up,” Tan Cheng Hoe said as quoted by Harian Metro.
“I have had several discussions with Mr. Vingada in regards to the national team’s plans.
This will not be Tan Cheng Hoe’s first rodeo as assistant coach of the national team. He assisted Datuk K. Rajagopal in clinching the AFF Suzuki Cup trophy in 2010. A year earlier, the duo helped Malaysia to a gold medal in the SEA Games after defeating Vietnam 1-0.
