BAM announce 2 new appointments to help churn more talents

In efforts to boost the merit and prominence of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), the governing body has announced two new important appointments.

BAM has appointed Michelle Chai Han Ching as their new general manager, and Dr. Suresh Kumar as the Malaysia Badminton Academy Acting Head.

According to BAM’s president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the two appointments are made to achieve BAM’s mission of churning out more quality national shuttlers in the future.

Both Michelle Chai and Dr. Suresh have an impressive track record and experience in the sports industry that can help BAM reach greater heights.

“Michelle has been involved very much in the development of football in the UAE and AFC. She has experience and exposure.” Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria told The Star.

“She has not done badminton but, for a person who has handled football for 16 years, badminton should not be difficult.” he added.

Michelle Chai, who is the first woman to be appointed in a top position in BAM, is excited to be back home and is ready for the new challenge that lies ahead of her.

“I’m delighted to be back home serving the sports fraternity again. Although the sport is different, the principle of development and management is similar.” The Star quoted her as saying.

“The challenge is unique and interesting and I’m looking forward to working together with the BAM family.” Michelle said.

“There are big plans to transform the profile of badminton in Malaysia.” said the 42-year-old, who added that she is also excited to be under the leadership of the new BAM president.
