SEA Games: Synchronized swimming duo secure first gold for Malaysia

Malaysia has finally secured its first gold medal in the 2015 SEA Games today in the synchronized swimming duet finals.

Duo Katrina Ann Abdul Hadi and Lee Yhing Huey both amassed a total of 150.9103 points to claim the ultimate win, leading just one point ahead of host Singapore whom clinched silver with 149.8372 points and Indonesia taking home bronze with 139.0880 points.

The result puts Malaysia third on the medal standings, with one gold, one silver and two bronze. Singapore continue to lead the pack with five gold medals, four silver and three bronze, while Vietnam come second with two gold and three bronze medals.

Malaysia could go one step closer towards increasing their medal tally with Ng Sock Khim set to face Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Nga in the women’s singles semis of table tennis later today. A victory will allow Malaysia to secure at least another bronze medal.
