Italian Open: Fatigue forces Murray’s withdrawal

Andy Murray has officially pulled out of the Italian Open, citing fatigue as the major reason behind his decision.

The Brit was scheduled to take one David Goffin in the third round of the competition today, before deciding to withdraw; a decision that doesn’t entirely come as a surprise.

Murray initially considered the option of skipping this tournament to allow himself some time to rest before the French Open. He recently competed at the Munich and Madrid Open, winning both tournaments.

However, he eventually opted to compete and secured a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jeremy Chardy in his opening match yesterday.

Murray is now expected to rest and recuperate before firing on all cylinders when the French Open gets underway later this month.
